What is Community-Based Watershed Management?

Community-based watershed management (CBWM) is a comprehensive and collaborative process that integrates social, economic and ecological concerns over a defined geographical area.

CBWM strategies and projects being carried-out in Yakutat, Haines, Juneau, Skagway and on Prince of Whales Island, Cook Inlet, Copper River, Knik River, Tanana Valley and the Yukon River are resulting in:

  • Economic Gains
  • Enhanced Community and public health

This process strives to sustain and improve environmental and community health through a natural resource management approach that integrates locally driven initiatives.

The goal of this forum is to promote Community-based Watershed Management and provide participants with tools, resources and contacts to carry out successful projects in your community
